It’s time to go through your closet and put away the heavy sweatshirts and jackets. It is also a good time to access your exercise wear to figure out what you need to add to your summer workout wardrobe. There are some really great pieces out now, so take inventory and start shopping!
Flyaway Racerback Bra Top – This cute top from Victoria’s Secret will become a favorite because it has a shelf bra built in that gives medium support, and just because it is so stylish. It can be worn to the gym or to run errands. It comes in five colors, too, so pick up a couple of these!
Linen-Blend Shorts – There is nothing like the comfort of linen and cotton blend clothing on a steamy day. These shorts at Forever 21 are a perfect example of the perfect pair of shorts for summer workouts. Available in black, cream, taupe, or coral, they have cuffed legs, as well as a drawstring waist. At just $12.80, they are perfect for a run or hike.
Contrast Band Sports Bra – This is the prettiest sports bra I have ever seen! Sold exclusively at Free People and available in black or olive, you can also wear this with high waisted shorts or a long skirt. It is a little pricey at $58, but if it becomes one of your basic go to pieces, it is money well spent.
Live-In Leggings – I have to share my favorite leggings that I practically live in and they still look brand new after months of wear. These, available at Nordstrom, keep their shape wash after wash, and have a perfect fit. The waist sits just below the below the naval, and are available in black, grey slate, and navy eclipse.
No Sweatin’ It Sharkbite Top – This top from Athleta is super soft, and perfect to toss over your sports bra after working out. It is cut like a sweatshirt, but also has a dropped seam in the rear for extra coverage. Available in heather grey, amalfi blue heather, or flint grey heather, this is another piece that you will get a lot of wear out of even when not going to the gym.
Remember that when you feel good in your skin, you are also more motivated. It is wonderful to see that designers are concentrating on making workout wear that is not only comfortable and functional, but also fashionable. What’s more, these new basics will also work double duty for running around town in style, so you are really getting a bang for your buck!
